The long wait

I have been waiting my whole life. Waiting for admission, waiting for healing, waiting for a job, waiting for new heights, waiting for a big break, waiting for the one, waiting for an opportunity, waiting for an answer.

‘Wait’ is such a four-lettered arrogant fool. So daunting. Teaching you patience on different levels. Level 1,2,3…till infinity. Testing you to see how long you can hold on; how long you can sit, pant, and wag your tail patiently for half a bone or one big bone — if you get lucky.

Waiting for something is like sitting at the train station. It starts with an anticipation; getting excited about the journey and destination. Then comes hope, seeing the trains stopping and hoping that one of them goes to your destination. Then comes the agitation, watching people around you leave one after the other while you sit grudgingly, hoping for yours to come.

We have all waited for something at some point in our lives. Some of us have been waiting our whole lives. It has become a part of us, wether for something as trivial as waiting for a bus at the bus stop or staying on a queue for hours. The point is that, we are not just one part of ourselves. We all have different parts of ourselves that needs to be listened to and taken seriously. There are things happening in the diverse facets of our lives; when we put everything on hold because we are waiting for one thing, life passes us by quickly.

So, while you wait for that job, that answer, that person, listen to the other parts of you and give it all the attention it needs. Act while you wait, then waiting won’t feel like waiting.
